How to Get to Surigao

Surigao is located on the northernmost tip of Mindanao Island. There are several ways to travel to Surigao.

Our resort, Surigao Dream, is located in Balite, in San Francisco municipality, on the quiet countryside about 30 minutes drive from Surigao City or Surigao Airport.

Transfer from and to Surigao’s port or airport to our resort is included in the room price if you stay at least three nights (which you certainly need at least to experience the best things we have to offer).

Fly directly from Cebu and Manila to Surigao

There are flights to Surigao Airport (SUG) from Cebu and Manila several times a week. Check Cebu Pacific airline for the tickets and timetables.

Fly to Siargao and Take a Ferry to Surigao

Popular – and fun – alternative is to flight to Siargao Island, spend a few days there, and then take a boat from Siargao to Surigao. There are a couple of boats a day in the mornings (best to buy the ticket one day in advance from Siargao harbour).

Siargao and Surigao make a nice combo; the former offers busy traveler vibe, the latter quieter and more local feel.

Fly to Butuan and Take a Bus to Surigao

Butuan is our closest big city and there are more flights to Butuan than Surigao. Flights to Butuan tend to be cheaper too. From Butuan you can continue your way with a public bus. The ride takes from three to four hours.

If you are coming from Butuan with your own car, you can drive either via Lake Mainit and Malimono and enjoy the hot baths close to the beautiful lake, or go island hopping in Tagana-An where you can experience the beautiful Tinago Island.

Take a Ferry from Cebu

One of the cheapest options to get to Surigao is to take the night ferry from Cebu. Ferries go daily.

Drive the Pan-Philippine Highway

If you are feeling adventurous, you can also drive to Surigao from Manila through the Pan-Philippine Highway. That’s a long drive with many exciting sights on the way, so budget a lot of time in hand!

You can also traverse the Pan-Philippine Highway on a bus.

Where to Go from Surigao?

If you are touring the Philippines, you can continue your journey from Surigao to Leyte, which is only two hours ferry drive away, or to Camiguin, the island known for its many volcanoes.
