Best Time to Travel to Surigao

If you are looking for the absolutely best time to travel to Surigao, it is March-May, when the climate is perfect, and the whale shark season is at its peak.

But you are welcome any time of the year, and all the months have their own advantages to travel to our little paradise.

February is the shoulder season, which means that with bad luck you can still catch some rainy days, but for the most part the weather is excellent. February is also a great time to see whale sharks, weather permitting.

June and July bring the hot weather. Days are clear and sunny. If you don’t mind the heat, this is definitely a great time to travel to Surigao. If you are coming from Europe, enjoy your long summer break and tour some other great destinations in the Philippines too.

August-September is the windy season, when waves might prevent most of our dolphin and whaleshark watching trips. Unforgettable excursions can still be made inland and to the sheltered Eastern seaside of Surigao like the magnificent Sohoton Cave and its Jellyfish Lake. This time is perfect for the holidaymakers looking for peace and quiet.

The rainy season in Surigao is in November, December and January, as in much of the Philippines. It is also the most popular time of the year, when Europeans travel on their winter holidays. Rainfall usually does not last more than a couple of hours and won’t bother you too much. It is great time to escape the winter back at home, and to enjoy the company of fellow travelers.

It won’t ever be too busy in Surigao Dream, though – we have only 6 bungalows and an endless strech of pebble beach which will never feel too crowded.
